The Every-Other-Wednesday Blues Jam at Beach Cove has been off and running since October 2004 and has grown to become one of the premier jams in the Washington/Baltimore/Annapolis region. The jam not only attracts a wide range of musicians, but pulls one of the largest blues-loving audiences of any jam around. The jam regularly draws some of the top local blues performers, such as ACME Blues Company, Clarence "The Bluesman" Turner, Tony Fazio, Hugh Feeley, Robert Fiester, Robert "The Rev" Hahn, Warner Williams, and has even had national blues/rock artist Guitar Shorty drop in when he was in town!

Every-Other-Wednesday
Blues Jam

Host and Head Honcho of the Beach Cove Blues Jam, Steve "Wolf" Crescenze
The jam is hosted by Steve "Wolf" Crescenze and his house band, One Bad Jack, which is comprised of a number of top blues artists from several different bands. On guitar and vocals is Paul Mastradone of "The Paulverizers." On harmonica and vocals is Wave Milor of "ACME Blues Company." Drumming duties are shared by Mike O'Donnell of "Bad Eyed Cat" and Phil Schaffer of "Tornado Alley," and rounding out the rhythm section is Steve "Wolf" Crescenze of "ACME Blues Company" on bass.

The host band provides all the amplification equipment and drums; all the musicians need to bring is their instrument. Many guitarists choose to bring their own amplifiers, however, and are welcome to do so.

If you haven't been to one or are not familiar with a blues jam, it's an amazing site to see and hear. The host band starts the night off warming up the crowd with a set of their own brand of traditional and well-known blues. Then Steve calls a variety of musicians up to the stage, many of whom have not played or let alone practiced with, some may not have ever even met. Occasionally, there are some minor train wrecks, but most of the time, these impromptu bands produce fantastic music! Either way, everyone always has a good time. Many first time viewers are often heard asking the performers, "What's the name of your band?" Some are never convinced that the performance they just saw was not rehearsed. They just shake their head in amazement, but always come back for more. So if you've been thinking about attending, but haven't yet, make sure you add it to your calendar and come on out and become one of the regular blues-loving crowd at the Every-Other-Wednesday Blues Jam at Beach Cove!
